KMWSC with support from Caritas India, collaborates with WBCPCR for District Level Convergence Meet

The Child Rights project team of Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre (KMWSC) recently orchestrated a significant District level convergence meet on 20th February 2024, in partnership with the West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights (WBCPCR). This collaborative effort took place at the Zila Parishad Titumir auditorium in Barasat, North 24 Parganas district.

Panel Discussions: The event featured two insightful panel discussions, both skilfully moderated by the WBCPCR

  1. Role of Law Enforcement: Panel Discussion-1 delved into the crucial role of law enforcement in preventing child marriage, trafficking, and child labour. The discourse brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from law enforcement agencies and authorities.
  2. Good Practices on Child Protection:Panel Discussion-2 explored good practices in child protection, concerning issues like child marriage, trafficking and child labour. The panel boasted the presence of distinguished individuals, including Tulika Mam, the Chairperson of WBCPCR, and other prominent figures from the administrative and legal spheres.

Distinguished Attendees: The convergence meet witnessed the presence of esteemed individuals, including Tulika Mam and the entire team of WBCPCR, along with representatives from various sectors. Notable attendees included the ADM, DLSA secretary, DSPs from HQ Bongaon and Barasat, OCs from AHTU Barackpore and Women PS, Chairperson CWC and JJB, Special Public prosecutor, DSWO, DCPO, Superintendent of Sukanya Home, DMCHO, DI DLS Barasat, Panchayat pradhans, and representatives from NGOs.

Acknowledgments: KMWSC expresses profound gratitude to Ms. Tulika Das, the Chairperson, and the entire team of WBCPCR, DCPO, and DSWO of North 24 Parganas district for their invaluable collaboration. The success of this convergence meet is a testament to the collective efforts in advancing child protection mechanisms in Basirhat. Looking ahead, KMWSC eagerly anticipates continued collaboration with these partners to fortify the safeguarding of children in the region.
