As a part of extended activity Brick Field School Project has started its Nawada Intervention initiative soon after the Brick Field season came to an end. KMWSC team started the journey towards Nawada district in Bihar on 27/05/2018. The team has started to network with local administration, local government schools, in charges of Kasturba Gandhi Residential Homes for girls. The team is still in Nawada meeting with parents, visiting different villages identifying the children and families who had come to brick kilns to work in West Bengal.
The team visited the village Sudanpur, in pakribarawan Block where we have found more than 40 children who were in our centres in West Bengal. Among them 20 Children were admitted in local primary schools and 16 children were in ICDS centres. More than 5 girls we identified for KGBV. We have asked their parents to collect the relevant documents from Block office. They will contact us when they collect all documents. The team also conducted the community awareness on safe migration .More than 50 children and Parents attended the program. Most of the Parents are very cooperative. They have agreed to admit their children in KGBV.
On the second day the team visited the village Asarhi, in Nawada Block. The team first visited the Middle school and shared the children details with the teachers and came to know that 8 children were already in their registers. The team admitted 18 more children in the same school. The team also visited the village and met all the villagers. They conducted the community awareness on RTE and Safe migration. Majority of Children and parents were happy to see us on their own place. The team visited the ICDS centre and enrolled 12 children in ICDS. One teacher from school helped us to find many families. All the school teachers and Head master were very cooperative and helpful. The team also discussed about child friendly School with the school staff. They were happy to know the child rights
