World day against trafficking in person observed along the indo-Bangladesh border at Basirhat

To observe World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2023, Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre conducted a successful program at the Koijhuri Football Ground, along the Indo-Bangladesh Border in Basirhat. Theme of the programme was “Reach every victim of trafficking. LEAVE NO ONE BEHIND”.

The program started with an opening speech followed by different performances by our child leaders and students of Koijhuri Girls’ High School and Gabodda High School and sharing case studies of our survivors. A child safety corner and sanitary pad ATM was inaugurated at Gabodda BSF camps. Eminent guests, including officers of the BSF addressed the gathering. Students of different schools took out a rally, headed by Jawans of the Border Security Force. The rally was inaugurated by lighting a torch – the fire representing the strength to fight against trafficking. The torches were relayed among each of the stakeholders to display their solidarity for the fight against human trafficking and support for the survivors.

The rally ended with slogan and the National Anthem. Eminent guests like Asst. Commandant Sri Ashok Kumar Shah from BSF, Officer-In-Charge Sri J.P Barman from Swarupnagar Police Station, O.C. Jamuna Mondal from AHTU dept. of Basirhat Police District, Headmistress of Koijhuri Girls School, Headmaster of Koijhuri Boys School supported our program.

Among the participants were BSF officials, students of Koijhuri Girls School, Gabodda High School & Koijhuri Boys School, Women Development Cell from Basirhat College, Members of Sayestanagar and Koijhuri Panchayets, C.V.C. members and teachers of Brickfield School Project.
