Implanting teaching in remote areas

August 20, 2018

The coordinator and assistant coordinator of KMWSC under Barefoot Teachers Training Project traveled to Kalikapur, South 24 Parganas of West Bengal to conduct the teachers training for the grass root teachers from 9.8.218 to 12.8.2018. There were 35 participants, (male-5, and female-30) in Children’s Happy Home at Kalikapur. The training commenced in child friendly atmosphere. The main aim of the training was to reach out to the grass root candidates with activity based approach through creative methodology. After the formal introduction following topics were covered in four days:

  • Characteristics of children
  • Qualities of a good teacher
  • Language development
  • Number development through conversations sheet, look and say cards and feeling bag.
  • Making Teaching Learning Materials from the available resource.

To give emphasis on activity based learning for language and number rhymes were given importance and were taught in a vivid manner.

All the participants enjoyed learning through active participation. This training played an important role to see the teaching methodology in the perspectives of children. One of the teachers said this was the wonderful training I have ever attended. I feel confidence to teach the children in new manners. They look forward for the level 2 training in coming days.
