Lets rise,disrupt and connect on 14th February, 2017 at Mohorkunj
You must be aware about the One Billion Rising (OBR) Campaign.This is a global campaign initiated by Eve Ensler in 2013.She is a playwright, activist and founder of the organization V Day based in New York.One Billion Rising is an unprecedented revolution of one million men and women rising in dance to end violence against girls and women worldwide.The campaign brings focus to the exploitation of women with a view to promote and harness even stronger global solidarity through actions and create stronger in ending all forms of violence against women.This year, the fight will continue and become bolder and efforts will escalate. It will cross boundaries.
For the last five years on every 14th February thousands of “Risings” take place in hundreds of countries across the world and within local communities–to show the world what one billion looks like and bring to light the rampant impunity and injustice that survivors of various forms of violence face.
This year, KMWSC is going to celebrate this day by holding a Public Awareness Programme on 14th February, 2017, Tuesday from 3:00p.m to 6:00 p.m at Mohorkunj (adjacent to Academy of Fine Arts),Kolkata
The highlight of the programme will be
· Eminent Feminist and activist Ms.Kamla Bhasin will grace the occasion
· Dance Performance by school, colleges,NGO’s
· 10 Eminent singers will perform including renowned singer Shayne Hyrapiet
· Flash Mob
We will rise at Mohorkunj from 3pm to 6pm through songs and dance to promote ideas of solidarity and rise and disrupt any infringement of women’s rights and connect with exploited women and act together
