Education and protection to vulnerable urban children

KMWSC have identified two areas which host vulnerable and high risk children working in different professions.
Jyotinagar Colony has many children working in hazardous conditions in the glass factories located there.
Sonagachi Red Light Area is one of Asia’s largest red light areas and the children of sex workers face discrimination in many ways which have led to school drop outs.
The most vulnerable ones are the girls between the age group of 6-18 years. When they do not attend school, they tend to be free and aimless and this allows the middlemen/pimps to convince them to join the trade.
We provide education and protection to children between 6-14 years who attend the Loreto Sealdah Rainbow Programme and eventually we mainstream them into formal schools.
