On 9th May 2025, Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre (KMWSC) conducted its Monthly Child Club Meeting with children from Prosunnokathi and Akharpur under the Surokhit Shaishav Project. The gathering was particularly special as it coincided with the celebration of Rabindra Jayanti, the birth anniversary of Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore — a poet, thinker, and global humanist whose legacy continues to inspire generations.

The Child Club meetings serve as a vibrant platform for children to voice their thoughts, learn about their rights, and take up leadership roles within their communities. During the session, children engaged in discussions on child protection, their roles as change makers, and upcoming community initiatives.

As part of the Rabindra Jayanti celebrations, the children performed poetry recitations and songs – the timeless works of Rabindranath Tagore . Their enthusiasm, creativity, and deep admiration for Tagore’s ideals brought a wave of joy and pride among the facilitators and Children present.

The event fostered a sense of cultural identity and unity, helping children reflect on values such as freedom, dignity, empathy, and education — principles that remain central to both Tagore’s teachings and the mission of KMWSC.

Such integrated programmes not only nurture awareness and advocacy among children but also celebrate the richness of Bengal’s cultural heritage, empowering young minds to lead with knowledge, confidence, and compassion.
