Event Overview:
On 6th November 2025, a crucial workshop on "Human Trafficking and Bonded Labour" was convened at the Basirhat SP Office, marking a significant step in strengthening collaborative efforts between civil society organisations and law enforcement agencies. The event brought together KMWSC project teams, key law enforcement agencies and government stakeholders to enhance coordination and develop strategic approaches to combat human trafficking and labour exploitation in the region.
The workshop fostered meaningful dialogue among diverse stakeholders, including:
· KMWSC Project Teams: Dedicated staff from Surakshit Shaishab, Sahochori, Anti-Human Trafficking (AHT), and Nayadisha projects
· Law Enforcement Agencies: Officers from all police stations under Basirhat Sub-Division
· Security Forces: Representatives from the Border Security Force (BSF)
· Government Representatives: Officers from the District AHT Unit
The session provided an essential platform for sharing insights, challenges, and best practices in identifying, preventing and responding to cases of human trafficking and bonded labour. Participants discussed improved coordination mechanisms, early warning systems, and victim support protocols, strengthening the protective ecosystem for vulnerable communities across Basirhat.
