On the 12th World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, observed under the theme "Trapped Behind the Scam," multiple KMWSC projects came together across West Bengal to raise awareness on human trafficking, cyber safety, and child protection, reaching thousands of community members in a single, coordinated day of action.
In Gangasagar, the Tribal Community Development and Empowerment Project engaged 40 participants – including GP members, health workers, AWDs, and VLCPC members – through an advocacy session on the causes and legal dimensions of trafficking, followed by an oath-taking rally that closed with slogans and the national anthem. In Kolkata, the Skill Development Team marked the day at the KMWSC Community Hall, where Tailoring and Beautician course students performed a meaningful skit on the theme for staff and the Secretary.
At Manidindar Gheri Para, Manmathanagar in Gosaba, Sundarban, 102 community members and a Sansad member from Bipradaspur GP took part in sessions on trafficking and cyber safety awareness.
The Surokhit Shaishav Project marked the day through three parallel initiatives in Basirhat: a joint session with Railway Protection Force in Basirhat reaching 136 passengers on staying alert against crimes targeting children; a large awareness programme with Basirhat Police Station at Itinda Union High School, engaging 160 students alongside speakers from Basirhat Police, CID, BSF, and the Legal Services Authority; and a Gram Panchayat-level dialogue with Gacha-Akharpur GP, uniting Panchayat leaders, teachers, Anganwadi workers, adolescents, and parents around a shared commitment to child protection.
Separately, the AHT and LES Projects observed the day in Basirhat with approximately 126 participants – including BSF, local police, DALSA, Panchayat Pradhan, head teachers, ASHA workers, CVC members, and youth – through a cultural programme and awareness rally. In Baruipur, the Silver Lining Project marked the occasion in Madhavpur village.
Together, these coordinated efforts reflect KMWSC's organisation-wide commitment to standing against trafficking and protecting the rights and safety of every child.
"United in awareness, united against trafficking."
