As part of its ongoing efforts to protect vulnerable children and prevent human trafficking, Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre (KMWSC) successfully set up Child Rights Protection Desks (CRPD) at Ghojadanga Check Post on 12th May 2025 under the Surokhit Shaishav Project.
The initiative was implemented by two proactive Child Club (CC) members, showcasing community-led child protection in action, in collaboration with Gachha Akhapur G.P. These desks are envisioned as support points for monitoring, reporting, and responding to risks affecting children in border-adjacent and rural areas, especially those vulnerable to trafficking, early marriage, and unsafe migration.
KMWSC extends its sincere gratitude to the Anti Human Trafficking Unit of the Border Security Force (BSF) for their invaluable cooperation and commitment to safeguarding children’s rights and curbing human trafficking. Their presence and partnership lend strength and legitimacy to grassroots protection mechanisms.
This step marks another stride in KMWSC’s mission to build community resilience against trafficking and child rights violations by empowering local stakeholders, youth leaders, and institutional allies.
“Together, we protect childhood — with vigilance, unity, and care.”
