Life skill sessions focusing on child rights and child protection issues were conducted at Boinchtala, Dhapa on 18 January 2026 under the Adolescent Girls’ Empowerment (AGE) Programme. The session brought together 40 adolescent girls, creating a safe and engaging space for learning, dialogue, and reflection on issues that directly affect their lives and well-being.
The programme aimed to build a strong understanding of fundamental child rights, with special emphasis on protection from abuse, exploitation, and neglect. Through interactive discussions, age-appropriate examples, and participatory activities, the girls were encouraged to identify situations that may place them at risk and to understand their right to safety, education, dignity, and support. The session also highlighted the importance of speaking up, seeking help, and supporting peers in challenging circumstances.
Facilitators guided the participants to explore practical ways of protecting themselves and others, including awareness of trusted adults, community support systems, and available child protection mechanisms. The discussions helped demystify sensitive topics and empowered the girls to ask questions, share experiences, and build confidence in asserting their rights.
The session further reinforced the role of adolescent girls as active agents of change within their families and communities. By strengthening their knowledge and life skills, the AGE Programme continues to nurture informed, confident, and resilient young individuals who are better equipped to make safe choices and stand against rights violations.
The active participation and enthusiasm of the girls reflected a growing awareness and willingness to engage with issues of protection and justice, marking the session as a meaningful step toward long-term empowerment and safer communities.
“Informed girls today, safer and stronger communities tomorrow.”
