On 10th and 11th June 2025, Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre (KMWSC) had the honour of hosting the First South Asia Province Developmental Centres Meeting, organised by the Loreto South Asia Province. This significant two-day gathering brought together representatives from Loreto developmental centres across the region, creating a valuable platform for mutual learning, strategic discussions, and strengthening cross-centre collaboration.

Held at the KMWSC premises, the meeting focused on understanding the diverse challenges and innovations shaping Loreto’s developmental work in South Asia. Through interactive presentations, experience sharing, and dialogue sessions, each centre showcased its unique contributions, project impacts, and ongoing efforts in empowering communities.

The meeting not only facilitated idea exchange but also deepened the collective understanding of Mary Ward’s vision in contemporary social work. The spirit of sisterhood and shared commitment was palpable throughout the event, reflecting a unified drive to further the mission of justice, dignity, and compassion in the lives of the most marginalised.

The sessions were marked by engaging discussions on thematic areas such as education, child rights, anti-human trafficking, climate resilience, and skill development. Participants actively explored opportunities for collaboration, resource sharing, and capacity building, sowing seeds for a more connected and responsive network of developmental action.

As the first of its kind, the South Asia Province Developmental Centres Meet stood as a testament to the collective strength of Loreto-led initiatives in the region. It set the tone for future gatherings and a stronger alignment of goals in the path ahead.
