Sensitisation Dialogue with Toto Drivers and Community Members

On 21st August 2025, the Surokhit Shaishav Project team organised an impactful sensitisation dialogue at Paikerdanga F.P. School with the active participation of Toto drivers from Paikerdanga and members of the Itinda Toto Union, along with local community members. The session focused on pressing child protection issues, specifically child marriage, child abuse, and child trafficking, while highlighting the crucial role that every individual can play in safeguarding children’s rights.

Toto drivers, as frontline community members, often witness incidents and vulnerabilities that put children at risk. Their engagement and vigilance are therefore vital in preventing violations and ensuring timely intervention. During the session, participants were encouraged to identify and report suspicious activities, to protect children from being exploited, and to support efforts in building a safer environment for the young generation.

The dialogue also underscored the shared responsibility of the community in preventing child rights violations. Discussions emphasised how awareness, collective action, and cooperation with local child protection mechanisms can effectively reduce the prevalence of early marriage, trafficking, and abuse. Interactive exchanges with the participants encouraged them to reflect on their own roles and inspired a commitment to act as protectors and advocates for children’s rights.

By engaging stakeholders like Toto drivers and community representatives, the program not only strengthened grassroots awareness but also created a wider network of vigilant guardians within the community. The initiative reaffirmed KMWSC’s mission to ensure that every child grows up in a safe, nurturing, and protective environment.
