On 9th August 2025, Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre (KMWSC) celebrated Raksha Bandhan in the “at-risk” communities near the Indo-Bangladesh Border under the Anti Human Trafficking SCAR Project, focusing on the core values of protection, love, and unity.
The celebrations brought together children, youth groups, and Community Vigilance Committee members for a day filled with warmth, joy, and cultural significance. Rakhis were exchanged as a symbolic pledge of mutual care and safety, reinforcing the community’s collective responsibility towards protecting the vulnerable.
Beyond the festive spirit, the event carried a deeper purpose — to foster social cohesion and promote values of solidarity and vigilance in communities susceptible to exploitation. Food and games added vibrancy to the occasion, creating an inclusive space where trust and bonds could grow stronger.
Through such community-led initiatives, the project continues to weave connections that transcend cultural celebration, making every event an opportunity for awareness, empowerment, and mutual respect.
“Tying bonds of love to strengthen shields of protection.”
