On 5th December 2024, a mangrove plantation drive was conducted along the river embankment at Gosaba, Sundarban, under the Climate Action and Biodiversity Project. This initiative aimed to restore the region's delicate ecosystem, mitigate the effects of climate change, and protect vulnerable riverbanks from erosion. Mangroves play a crucial role in maintaining biodiversity, providing habitat for various species, and acting as natural barriers against cyclones and tidal surges. The drive not only contributed to environmental conservation but also raised awareness among the local community about the importance of preserving the Sundarban's unique natural heritage.
