On 29th August 2025, Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre (KMWSC), under its I.D.E.N.T.I.T.Y Project, organised a Free Health Check-up Camp at Dhapa for the benefit of vulnerable community members living in this marginalised area. A total of 100 beneficiaries availed the services, receiving much-needed medical attention and prescribed medicines free of cost.
The camp was facilitated by a renowned doctor, whose expertise ensured accurate diagnosis and compassionate care for the participants. Many of the beneficiaries, who otherwise face financial and logistical barriers to accessing healthcare, were able to discuss their health concerns and receive proper guidance during the camp.
Along with medical examinations, the initiative focused on creating awareness about preventive healthcare practices. Patients were encouraged to adopt simple habits related to hygiene, nutrition, and regular health monitoring to avoid preventable illnesses. Free medicines, prescribed by the doctor, were distributed immediately after the consultations to ensure that beneficiaries could start their treatment without delay.
This initiative highlights the I.D.E.N.T.I.T.Y Project’s commitment to addressing the interlinked challenges of poverty, health, and social vulnerability in the Dhapa area. For the families living in difficult circumstances, such health camps provide not just treatment but also reassurance, dignity, and a renewed sense of care from the community around them.
The camp concluded on a positive note, with participants expressing their gratitude to KMWSC for bringing essential healthcare closer to their homes. For many, it was a reminder that their well-being matters, and that together, barriers to health access can be overcome.
“Health is hope—bringing care to the heart of the community.”
