Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre (KMWSC) had the honour of welcoming Ms. Asha Rosaline Ekka, representative of Caritas Germany, during her two-day field visit to Basirhat from 22nd to 23rd July 2025. Her visit marked a significant moment of encouragement, collaboration, and insight-sharing for all stakeholders of the Surokhit Shaishav Project.

During her visit, Ms. Ekka engaged meaningfully with various community representatives and institutional partners who are central to KMWSC’s mission in the border region. She met with School Management Committee (SMC) members, where the discussion focused on collaborative efforts to ensure safer learning environments for children and community ownership in school development.

Ms. Ekka also interacted with school children, who shared their aspirations, experiences, and learnings from KMWSC’s ongoing child rights and protection interventions. Her engagement with them brought warmth and motivation, reinforcing the value of continued support and attention to their voices.

A critical part of her visit included a meeting with the 102 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) at Ghojadanga border, strengthening the shared understanding on safety, vigilance, and preventive measures against child trafficking and cross-border exploitation.

In addition, Ms. Ekka met with Gram Panchayat Level Child Protection Committee (GPLCPC) members and participated in a detailed project team meeting, which allowed for strategic discussions, feedback sharing, and alignment on future priorities.

Her visit reaffirmed the collective commitment to safeguarding children’s rights, building stronger community networks, and deepening grassroots impact through partnership and shared purpose.
