As part of KMWSC’s commitment to providing holistic, practical learning experiences, an exposure visit was organised on 12th August 2025 for the tailoring trainees under the Skill Development Project. The destination was the bustling Science City Grand Trade Fair in Kolkata — a vibrant hub where creativity, craftsmanship, and commerce converge.

The visit aimed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world application by enhancing the trainees’ understanding of market trends, product presentation, and customer preferences. Trainees had the opportunity to explore a variety of stalls showcasing garments, accessories, and home décor items, observing first-hand the diversity of designs, quality standards, and pricing strategies used by industry professionals.

The exposure also served as an eye-opener to innovative tailoring techniques, fabric usage, and contemporary styles. Interacting with stall owners and artisans gave the trainees valuable insights into marketing approaches, customer service, and the importance of building a unique brand identity.

This hands-on experience not only broadened their market knowledge but also inspired them to incorporate new ideas into their own tailoring work. Many expressed their excitement about experimenting with fresh designs and improving finishing techniques to meet evolving customer demands.

By stepping outside their training environment, the trainees gained the confidence to envision their future as skilled entrepreneurs or sought-after professionals in the fashion sector. The exposure visit reaffirmed the project’s mission — to equip learners with skills that are both market-relevant and empowering.
