From August 20th to 30th, 2024, the Brickfield School Project team undertook a crucial visit to Nawada district in Bihar as part of the Source Area Intervention initiative. The team actively collaborated with key stakeholders, including officers from the Education Department, the D.P.O. - M.D.M, the Principal of the District Institute of Education and Training, and various school authorities across the district. Throughout their visit, the team conducted a series of impactful Awareness Programs focused on Health & Hygiene and social issues, specifically targeting girls in 6 KGBV Homes, boys in 1 NSCB Hostel, and students in 5 Government Schools. During these sessions, hygiene kits were distributed to 517 KGBV girls, 71 NSCB boys, and 294 school students. In addition, Learning Materials were provided to students in 17 Government Schools, ensuring that children in these communities have the resources they need to thrive academically. The visit culminated in a 2-day Teachers Training Programme held on August 29th and 30th. This training, organised in collaboration with the Barefoot Teachers Training Programme, aimed to equip educators with innovative methods for creating a joyful and engaging learning environment, particularly for children returning from the brickfields. This initiative marks a significant step in improving education and awareness in the region, furthering KMWSC's mission to empower marginalised migrant communities through education and advocacy.
