On 14th July 2024, two Child Parliament meetings were conducted at Chandipur and Manmathanagar in Gosaba, Sundarban, as part of our Solar Project. These meetings focused on crucial topics such as child rights, violations of child rights, and the roles and responsibilities of Child Club members. The sessions provided an interactive platform for children to voice their concerns, share experiences, and learn about their rights. Through engaging discussions and activities, participants were empowered with knowledge about the various forms of child rights violations and how to address them. The meetings also emphasised the importance of Child Club members' roles in their communities. Children were encouraged to take active roles in advocating for their rights and supporting their peers in times of need. The initiative aims to foster a sense of responsibility and leadership among the young participants, enabling them to become proactive members of their communities. These Child Parliament meetings are part of our ongoing efforts to create awareness and promote the rights of children in the Sundarban region. By empowering children with knowledge and a platform to express themselves, Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre is dedicated to building a safer and more supportive environment for all children.
