In an era where digital connectivity is both a powerful tool and a potential threat, Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre (KMWSC) continues its commitment to fostering awareness and responsibility among young learners. On 28th July 2025, an insightful School Awareness Programme on Cyber Crime was conducted at Bramhananda Vidyabhaban High School under the Leadership and Empowerment of Survivors Project at Basirhat.
A total of 100 students participated in the session, which was designed to inform and engage adolescents on the various forms of cyber threats — including cyberbullying, identity theft, online grooming, and misinformation — that can affect them directly or indirectly in their daily digital interactions.
The session focused on responsible online behaviour, privacy safeguards, and the legal consequences of engaging in or falling victim to cybercrime. It emphasised the importance of critical thinking before sharing or consuming content online and provided practical tips on how to protect personal data and report suspicious activity.
The interactive format encouraged students to ask questions, share their experiences, and understand the implications of their digital footprints. Real-life examples and legal insights were presented to create awareness on how legal frameworks can help prevent and address cyber threats.
This awareness programme is a step toward building a generation that is not only digitally literate but also ethically and legally informed. Through such initiatives, KMWSC aims to empower children to navigate the digital world safely and confidently.
“Informed minds, safer clicks — building digital resilience for tomorrow."
