The journey of empowerment took a meaningful step forward with the first monthly meeting of the “Swapna Dana” Girls Group, held under the Naya Disha Project at Hingalganj, North 24 Parganas. This newly formed platform provides survivors with a safe and supportive space to share, interact, and learn collectively, while nurturing hope and resilience for the future.
The inaugural session was marked by open conversations and interactive activities, encouraging the participants to speak freely about their experiences. Survivors were introduced to key concepts of human rights and the four basic pillars of child rights, helping them understand their entitlements and the importance of safeguarding these rights in everyday life.
One of the central activities focused on distinguishing between “needs” and “wants.” Through practical exercises and discussions, the participants gained valuable insights into prioritising essential aspects of life and making informed choices. This activity also sparked conversations about how limited resources can be managed effectively while working toward building a secure future.
The meeting fostered a strong sense of solidarity, belonging, and collective strength among the girls. By creating this platform, KMWSC aims to support survivors in reclaiming their voices, asserting their rights, and shaping a new path of empowerment.
The launch of the “Swapna Dana” Girls Group is not only a milestone but also a promise — a promise of continued learning, growth, and courage. Each monthly gathering will build on this foundation, ensuring that survivors are better equipped with knowledge, confidence, and life skills to transform their challenges into opportunities.
“From dreams to strength — together, survivors rise.”
