On 11th August 2025, Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre (KMWSC) organised a Life Skill Training Workshop at Manmathanagar village under the Nari Shakti Project, focusing on empowering mothers to become catalysts of positive change within their families and communities.
The session addressed six essential life skills — empathy, interpersonal relationships, critical thinking, communication, problem-solving, and decision-making. These skills were presented through interactive discussions, practical examples, and group activities to help participants relate the concepts to their everyday lives.
For many mothers, the training was more than just a workshop — it was a space of reflection and realization. They explored the importance of empathy in strengthening family bonds, communication in resolving conflicts, and critical thinking in making better life decisions. The interactive nature of the programme encouraged them to share their experiences, thereby learning from one another’s challenges and perspectives.
Through role-play exercises and storytelling, participants also practiced decision-making and problem-solving strategies that can be applied to common household and community situations. The workshop not only equipped them with practical skills but also instilled confidence to tackle daily struggles with a positive and constructive approach.
By enabling mothers to gain such awareness and confidence, the training aimed to create a ripple effect — empowering them to guide their children wisely, improve community relationships, and advocate for healthier, more informed choices in their villages.
This initiative reaffirms KMWSC’s commitment to nurturing mothers as strong pillars of change who can uplift not just their families but entire communities.
