On 18th July 2025, Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre conducted a meaningful life skills training session at the Learning Centre in Basirhat under the Surokhit Shaishav Project. The session was tailored for adolescents and aimed at equipping them with practical skills essential for their personal development and for navigating the complexities of daily life.
The training focused on enhancing self-awareness, emotional regulation, effective communication, and decision-making. Using an interactive and activity-based approach, the session encouraged the participants to reflect on their own strengths, develop empathy, and build confidence in expressing themselves. Real-life scenarios and relatable stories were used to initiate discussions, helping the adolescents better understand how to respond to conflict, peer pressure, and stressful situations in constructive ways.
Special attention was given to group exercises and games that fostered teamwork and problem-solving abilities among the participants. The friendly and supportive learning environment encouraged open sharing, helping the adolescents to connect with one another and realise they are not alone in the challenges they face.
This session was yet another step in the ongoing commitment of KMWSC to empower children and adolescents in vulnerable communities, providing them with tools and confidence to grow into resilient individuals.
