On 10th and 11th April 2025, a transformative Two-Day Life Skills Training Session was organised under the Surokhit Shaishav Project at Basirhat-1 Block. The training aimed to equip adolescent participants with essential life skills that foster self-confidence, emotional well-being, and stronger social connections.
The sessions focused on ten core life skills recommended by the WHO, crucial for holistic development:
Self-awareness, Effective Communication, Interpersonal Relationships, Decision Making, Problem Solving, Critical Thinking, Creative Thinking, Empathy, Coping with Stress, and Coping with Emotions.
Through interactive activities, group discussions, real-life scenarios, and guided reflections, participants were encouraged to explore their own identities, improve communication styles, handle peer pressure, and respond to challenges with empathy and resilience. The environment was safe, inclusive, and dynamic — providing every child a voice, a choice, and a space to grow.
One of the most inspiring aspects of the training was witnessing the transformation among the adolescents. Many, who initially hesitated to speak, gradually opened up — expressing emotions, building peer connections, and exploring their strengths and aspirations.
This initiative goes beyond education. It is about empowering the next generation with the inner tools to navigate a complex world — where every emotion matters, every voice is heard, and every life has the power to create change.
“Building stronger minds, kinder hearts, and brighter futures—one life skill at a time.”
