The Director visits to Lodha community

On 15th March 2021, Director of KMWSC Sr. Monica Suchiang paid a monitoring visit to the Lodha community at Sagar block in Sundarban area, where the Organisation has been engaged in a community development project for the Lodha tribe for the last 7 years. At first, she held a short meeting with the project staff to receive an update on present project situation. After that, she met the children who have been mainstreamed into Govt. residential schools. The children expressed their eagerness to return to their school once it reopens after the pandemic. Sr. Monica also visited the Lodha homes which were constructed by KMWSC following the damage caused by Amphan. She also interacted with the mothers of the community, who requested her assistance in earning a livelihood through formation of SHGs. Sr. Monica assured the mothers that though she would explore such possibilities and do whatever she can. However, she mentioned, it is too early to give any assurance on the spot. It was a fruitful visit to the Lodha community. It was also a fruitful interaction with the people in Kochuberia who were open to share their life style.
