Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre celebrated by enlightening poor slum children’s life from Muraripukur and Chingrighata region. This day lays a great importance on the children and therefore KMWSC celebrated with altogether 125 children, 60 children from the Muraripukur MAC and remaining 65 children from the Chingrighata MAC. For the Children's day celebrations the kids from these slums recited poems, performed on action rhymes and the older children from the age group of 10 to 15 years took participation in a drawing competition. They drew and painted pictures depicting the Cleanliness and hygiene to be maintained during Covid- 19. The best three drawn pictures were awarded with prizes. Then an exhibition of these paintings was put up on the squares of the slum areas to spread Covid and child rights awareness among the people. This was later followed by the distribution of lunch packets that was prepared by KMWSC cafe and restaurant and the kids were also distributed with soaps to spread the awareness of hygiene amidst this pandemic.
