To observe the World Day Against Human Trafficking on 30th July 2025, members of the Prokriti and Somajbondhu Child Clubs came together in Benebow and Nakuadaha villages of Basirhat, to amplify awareness and empower their peers against the menace of human trafficking. This impactful programme was organised under the Surokhit Shaishav Project, which continues to work towards strengthening community-based child protection mechanisms.
The meeting, entirely child-led, focused on sensitising children on the harsh realities and deceptive practices involved in human trafficking. The young participants actively engaged in meaningful discussions, sharing their knowledge with others and learning how to protect themselves and their peers. They highlighted red flags, safe behaviours, and the importance of reporting any suspicious activity to trusted adults or authorities.
Adding a creative dimension to the awareness effort, a drawing competition was also organised for the Child Club members. Through their artwork, children depicted powerful messages against trafficking and illustrated their visions of a safer and more secure childhood. This activity not only served as a medium of expression but also provided the children with a joyful and confidence-boosting space for participation.
The event reflected the growing awareness and leadership among children in the fight against exploitation. Such efforts ensure that children are not only informed and alert but also empowered to act as change agents in their communities.
“When children lead, awareness grows — fighting human trafficking with knowledge, creativity, and courage.”
