The celebration of Mary Ward Week culminated on 30th January 2026 with meaningful observances held at the office in Kolkata and across multiple project locations, bringing together staff, children, teachers, and community members to honour the life, vision, and enduring legacy of Mary Ward.
At the KMWSC Office, the week concluded with a solemn prayer service, creating a reflective space for staff to reconnect with the core values of faith, courage, and service that guide the organisation’s mission. Following the prayers, a lively quiz on the life and works of Mary Ward was organised, fostering learning, joy, and collective reflection among the staff members.
Under the Brickfield School Project, Mary Ward Day was observed across several centres. At Pujali, the day was marked alongside the Annual Drawing Competition, where children creatively expressed themes inspired by Mary Ward’s values. Similar celebrations were held at Haroa, Kalyani, and the Model Centre in Basirhat, with active participation from children and teachers. Through prayers, discussions, and simple activities, the celebrations reinforced the importance of education, resilience, and self-belief among children from migrant brickfield communities.Mary Ward Day was also celebrated at the TCDEP Learning Centre in Gangasagar, where children engaged in age-appropriate activities reflecting on learning, discipline, and compassion – values central to Mary Ward’s philosophy.
Additionally, the Surokhit Shaishav Project observed Mary Ward Week at Gachha village through a Child Club meeting with the “Agamoni” children’s group. During the session, children discussed the life and work of Mary Ward, reflected on the current situation of their village, and shared insights on the status of education within their community. The dialogue encouraged critical thinking, participation, and a sense of ownership among the children.Across all locations, the celebrations served as a reminder that Mary Ward’s vision continues to inspire collective action rooted in education, dignity, and hope.
“Inspired by Mary Ward – nurturing faith, learning, and courage across generations.”
