Celebrating Courage: KMWSC Beneficiaries Honoured with The Telegraph Courage and Priyo Baba O Maa Awards

  • 22 Aug 2026 - 29 Aug 2026
  • EZCC Auditorium and Dhana Dhanyo Auditorium, Kolkata

Courage often grows quietly, in the small daily victories of those who refuse to give up. This August, that courage was celebrated on a public stage, as beneficiaries and caregivers from several Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre projects were honoured with The Telegraph Courage Award and The Telegraph Priyo Baba O Maa Award, at EZCC Auditorium on 22nd August and Dhana Dhanyo Auditorium on 29th August 2026 respectively.

Under the Silver Lining Project, Swapna Sardar (name changed) received the Thank You Baba-Ma Award, recognising the strength and resilience shown within her family's journey. From the Leadership and Empowerment of Survivors Project, Rita Sarkar (name changed), Disha Sarkar (name changed), and Monowara Khatun (name changed) were each honoured with the same award, celebrating the perseverance of survivors and their families.

The Surakshit Shaishav Project saw strong representation across both categories. Trisha Mondal was recognised with the Telegraph Courage Award for her personal strength, while Mita Sarkar received the Thank You Baba-Ma Award at EZCC on 22nd August. Purnima Sarkar, mother of Pallabi and Minakshi Sarkar, along with Minati Sarkar and Saraswati Das, grandmother of Shiba Das, were also honoured with the same award, reflecting the vital role families play in a child's journey towards safety and stability.

Further recognition came for Rohit Das (name changed) of PEPVC and Riya Singh (name changed) of Sohochori, both awarded the Telegraph Courage Award, alongside Anshika Singh of the Adolescent Girls Empowerment Programme.

Each award represents more than individual achievement; it reflects the quiet, sustained support of families, caregivers, and project teams walking alongside them. KMWSC extends its heartfelt congratulations to every awardee, whose courage continues to inspire the communities they belong to.

"Celebrating courage, honouring the families who nurture it."
