On 24th June 2025, Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre (KMWSC) conducted a focused training session on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment (POSH) at the Workplace for its Internal Committee (IC) members, reaffirming its commitment to fostering a respectful, safe, and inclusive work environment.

The training, held at the KMWSC premises, was designed to strengthen the understanding of the POSH Act (2013), its scope, legal implications, and the roles and responsibilities of the Internal Committee members. The session covered in detail the key definitions, reporting mechanisms, redressal procedures, and preventive measures that organisations must undertake to protect employees from any form of sexual harassment at the workplace.

Real-life scenarios, case studies and group discussions formed an integral part of the session, allowing committee members to gain practical insights and enhance their capacity to handle complaints with sensitivity, confidentiality, and fairness. The session also reinforced the importance of awareness-building among all staff members and the need to establish a culture of zero tolerance towards any misconduct.

The POSH training is part of KMWSC’s broader organizational ethos that prioritizes dignity, equality, and justice — not just in its outreach programs, but also within its internal systems and work culture.
