The May 2025 session of the Barefoot Teachers’ Training, marked another vital step in empowering grassroots educators to enhance classroom learning for children of migrant workers. The trainings were held on 7^th, 8^th, 13^th and 14^th May. In all 88 grass-root level teachers participated in the programme.

This four-day training program was designed as a follow-up to the foundation laid during April’s session. The programme began with a thoughtful recap of key concepts and teaching strategies discussed earlier, allowing participants to reflect, consolidate, and build confidence in their roles as community educators.

A major focus of the May training was on language development through storytelling — an age-old yet powerful pedagogical tool. Teachers were introduced to techniques that integrate storytelling into daily lessons, enriching children's linguistic abilities while nurturing imagination and critical thinking.

In addition, facilitators provided guidance on conducting baseline assessments. These assessments are crucial for identifying each child’s learning level and tailoring lesson plans to ensure inclusive and personalized learning experiences.

The training also included hands-on workshops for developing subject-wise Teaching-Learning Materials (TLMs) using locally available resources. These sessions empowered teachers to create engaging, practical, and low-cost educational tools that support activity-based learning — an essential need in the brickfield learning context.

The session concluded with renewed energy and a strong sense of collaboration among the participants. The Barefoot Teachers' Training continues to be a transformative journey, strengthening community-based education and ensuring that quality learning reaches even the most marginalized children.
