The Annual Sports Day of the Brickfield School Project at Basirhat was held on 20 February 2026 with great enthusiasm and vibrant participation from children across Groups A, B, C, and D. The day brought together young learners from migrant brickfield communities in a joyful celebration of energy, teamwork, and healthy competition.

A variety of track and field events were organised, carefully designed to suit different age groups and abilities. From races that tested speed and endurance to games that encouraged coordination and teamwork, the activities ensured that every child had an opportunity to participate and shine. The event was not only about winning but about building confidence, discipline, and resilience – qualities essential for children growing up in challenging socio-economic conditions.

Adding a special dimension to the day, the women from the Adult Education Programme participated in a lively game of musical chairs, which brought laughter, excitement, and a strong sense of community bonding. Their enthusiastic involvement highlighted the inclusive spirit of the Brickfield School Project, where learning and growth extend beyond children to the wider community.

Prizes were awarded to the top three performers in each event, while all other participants received consolation prizes – affirming that effort and participation are valued as much as achievement. This approach reinforced encouragement and self-esteem among every child.

The success of the event was a testament to the meticulous planning and dedication of the Brickfield School teachers, Lead Teachers, and the project team. From organising logistics and ensuring safety to motivating children and coordinating events with discipline and care, the team demonstrated remarkable commitment.

Sports activities under the Brickfield School Project play a vital role in holistic development. They nurture physical health, teamwork, leadership, and emotional well-being—essential elements for children who often face instability due to migration and labour-intensive environments. Through such initiatives, the project continues to create spaces where children can experience joy, belonging, and equal opportunity. “Beyond classrooms – building confidence, character, and community through sports.”
