A Celebration of Extraordinary Individuals

With immense pride and joy, we celebrate the phenomenal achievements of the brave children and resilient mothers from our communities. On the 23rd and 30th of August, seven individuals supported by Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre (KMWSC) were honoured with prestigious Telegraph Awards, placing a national spotlight on their personal journeys of courage and determination.

Award Categories & Our Champions

The awards brilliantly recognised the power of individual spirit:

• The "Courage Awards" were bestowed upon adolescent girls from projects like the Surokhit Shaishav Project and the Anti-Human Trafficking Project. These young warriors have taken a brave stand against child marriage in their own localities, becoming powerful role models and defenders of their own rights and the rights of their peers.
• The "Thank You Baba-Maa Awards" celebrated the unwavering strength of single mothers from our Tribal Community Development Project and Human Rights Project. These awards honour their relentless daily struggle and profound sacrifice to ensure their children receive an education, against all odds.

This recognition is magnified by the Telegraph Foundation's commitment to linking each awardee with their sponsorship programme. This vital support provides the resources to turn their hard-fought hopes into a tangible reality, ensuring these girls can continue their studies and these mothers can see their children’s futures secured.
