Raising One Voice to “RISE, RESIST, UNITE”
31st of January, 2020; 3.00 p.m. at Allen Park.
As we RISE to Raise one Vibration to free all women from all sexual, racial, physical, political, economic, socio-cultural, ideological and climate crisis violence.
This mass movement will be inaugurated by Mr. Firhad Hakim, the Honourable Mayor of Kolkata along with Mr. Rajiva Sinha, Chief secretary of Government, West Bengal and Mr. Michael Shane Calvert, MLA of Anglo- Indian Community as the Moderator of the event. The event will mark the theme of the 2020 revolution, “SOLIDARITY” and will be conducted in collaboration with Loreto School, Elliot Road and the logistics would be supported by KMC. Joint Commissioner of Police, Deputy Commisioner of Police- South, KMC secretary, OC, Local Counsellor will bestow this movement with their august presence. The esteemed Panellist will be coming from different backgrounds of our society who will address the mass about the inequality challenges faced by women and girls. This panellist team includes Ms. Saira Shah Halim, Mr. Nick Rampal, Ms. Nandita Palchoudhuri , Ms. Madiha Ahmed, Ms. Anchita Ghatak and Mr. Deep Purkayastha. Medley songs and a Flash mob will be also organised by Loreto School Elliot Road depicting an act of public dance to show a joyful, disruptive and artistic way of resistance on the anthem “Break the Chain”. Loreto School Bowbazar will perform a dance and Saraswati Sadan High School will also contribute a short skit on “Unsuni awaaz” to the performances of the event. Celebrity singers like Shayne Hyrapiet, Kamran Khurshid and his band The Voicez, Michelle Manuel and Mantasha will add their contribution to this movement with their inimitable theme-inspired renditions. The programme will end with the note that through OBR movement, we will rise through our dance to express joy and celebrate the fact that we have not been defeated by this violence going around in our country.
