Empowering Communities: Successful Enrolments in Government Welfare Schemes

January 31, 2025

During January 2025, Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre (KMWSC), under its IDENTITY Project, facilitated the successful enrolment of several beneficiaries into various government welfare schemes at Hastings. These enrolments mark a significant step towards economic empowerment and social security for marginalized individuals, ensuring they receive essential financial support.

Through dedicated efforts by the project team:

  • One adolescent group member was successfully enrolled in the “Laxmi Bhandar” Scheme, providing financial assistance to women for their socio-economic upliftment.

  • Two members secured enrolment under the “Jai Bangla Pension” Scheme, a vital initiative aimed at supporting individuals in need.

  • One married woman gained access to the “Laxmi Bhandar” Scheme, ensuring financial stability for her household.

  • Two women were enrolled in the “Widow Pension” Scheme, offering them much-needed financial relief and support for a dignified life.

These enrolments are a testament to KMWSC’s ongoing commitment to empowering underprivileged communities, ensuring that they benefit from government schemes designed for their welfare. By bridging the gap between policy and people, KMWSC continues to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those who need it the most.
