Director of KMWSC, Sr. Monica Suchiang, not only obtain field updates from respective Project Coordinators, but also undertakes field visits whenever she finds time. This practice has been continuing ever since Sr. Monica took charge of the Organisation.
On 30th August 2022, Sr. Monica undertook a 2-days visit to Basirhat to have a firsthand overview of the Anti Human Trafficking (AHT), Child Rights and Brickfield School Project. She had planned to cover the fields on 30th and 31st August, making it a 2-days visit.
Journey of Sr. Monica started early on the morning of 30th August. Sr. Monica was also accompanied by Project Coordinator of the AHT Project. At first she visited the village of Goyaldaha, followed by the villages of Gobodda and Bhadhuria. These three villages are the intervention areas of the Anti Human Trafficking Project SCAR and Empowerment for leadership of Survivors programme ELS under AHT project at Basirhat. The field staffs of the AHT Project joined Sr. Monica at Goyaldaha village. Along with the project team, Sr. Monica held meetings with CVC Members and members of the Child Parliament. She discussed with them about activities of the project and cases intervened. She also held separate meetings with two survivors groups, interacting with them on one-to-one basis, discussing case history and current status of the cases. At the end, Sr. Monica held a feedback meeting with the project staff to share her observations in details.
After completing her visit to the three villages, Sr. Monica went to the Resource Centre of KMWSC at Basirhat. At the Resource Centre, Sr. Monica met the project staffs of Child Rights, Brickfield Schools and Anti Human Trafficking Projects. The staffs updated their Director about the current status of their respective project. They also shared with her issues on networking and advocacy. By the time Sr. Monica finished her meetings with staffs of all three projects, it was quite late in the evening. The team stayed back at Basirhat for the night so that they can commence their monitoring visit early on the next morning.
In the morning of 31st August, Sr. Monica resumed her monitoring visit to the intervention villages under Child Rights Project at Basirhat, Director Sr. Monica Suchiang met the Mothers’Group of Gachha village. She also held a meeting with leaders of 12 Child Clubs under Gachha-Akharpur G.P. Later during the day, Sr. Monica visited the Child Friendly Corner (CFC) at Basirhat Police Station. After a thorough inspection of the CFC, she had a short meeting with the Second Officer.
