Story of Puja Sardar…..

Puja Sardar, (name changed) presently 32, is a Trafficking Survivor. She lives in Bharatpur village (name changed) in Basirhat. After she passed her Class X school leaving examination, her father gifted her a smart phone. She was very happy to receive the gift. Like others girls of her age, she opened her social accounts using her mobile. After few days, she came across a boy on her social media account; gradually they start liking each other. Puja started discussing her likes, her dreams and aspirations with the boy. One day she told the boy that she wants to become an actor in movies and be a star. Using this opportunity, the boy told Puja that if she comes and meets the boy at Haryana, he will give Puja a chance to become a heroine. After this conversation, Puja one day, left her house with some money and along with the boy, began her journey to Haryana.

Unable to find their daughter, Puja’s father lodged a FIR with the local police station. Immediately, the police launched an intense search operation. Using tower location of Puja’s mobile, the police tracked the girl and finally rescued her from Howrah station. Puja is a perfect example of a cyber crime trafficking victim.

For a few days after her rescue, Puja was sent to a government rescue home. Later, by order of the honourable court, Puja was sent home to her parents. The police is still trying to catch the boy and bring and send him for trial.
