The Rescue Story of Priya Mukherjee

Priya Mukherjee is from Kumir Danga village (name changed) in Basirhat. When she was 16, studying in Class-XI, she was trapped by a boy in the name of love. Being in love, one day, Priya ran away with the boy. They stayed together only for a very short time, after which, the boy took her to Mumbai and tried to sell her in a brothel.

Meanwhile, Priya’s parents lodged a missing complain (FIR) at their local police station. After 15 days of intensive search, the police was able to trace Priya and finally rescue her from Mumbai. After her rescue, she was sent to a government rescue home as per order of the District Child Welfare Committee. The boy is still absconding and search is on to arrest him and bring him to justice.

At present, Puja wants to complete her studies up to graduation level. Coming from a family with extreme marginal resources, Puja has requested KMWSC for some support so that she can continue her education.
