Rashmi and Shital are two sisters of age 10 and 12 respectively. Both parents work as daily labourers on other’s farms. Since lockdown, work has stopped and it was often difficult to feed the family. With this now they have started fishing and selling the catch in the market. While Rashmi studies in class IV, her sister studies in class II. Not having electricity in the home means they play the whole evening and go to bed using the kerosene lamp to study is not an option.
The solar project identified them and provided them with solar lamps which came as a blessing for them. Now their mother can cook without any trouble and the children are now able to study.
