12 year old Sonia Raut longs to go to school.“Who will look after my younger brother and cook at home if I go to school?” – says Sonia.Sonia’s parents in order to earn their living leave home early in the morning return late at night. Though they send their young son to school every day but were reluctant to send Sonia to school. Sonia’s life was dull before the opening of the Lotus Child center as she was subjected to household chores.But the center gave her a chance to learn read and write and live her childhood as she had always wanted to be. She has learnt a lot now and can write her name and read as well.Twice in a day she attends the center with the children as well as with the adults. We are at present trying to convince her parents to send her to a residential school where she can live her dream childhood.
