Menu Nandi (name changed), aged 11 years, was raped by her step-father. Menu’s mother is a sex-worker at Sonagachhi. On further enquiry by her mother, Menu said that she was sexually exploited by her step-father for the past one year. The step-father also threatened Menu to kill her if she ever spoke to anyone about these sexual incidents.
During this time, her mother reached to the KMWSC Team. KMWSC, with the support of the local police station medically examined Menu. The medical examination revealed that Menu was pregnant. An FIR was filed against Menu’s step-father under POCSO. The girl was being monitored by KMWSC Team even during her medical check-up and treatment in R.G. Kar Hospital. The organization accompanied Menu to give her the much required mental support when she registered her statements before a Judicial Magistrate.
