1 child was re-united with the family

Lalita Midya (name changes), 13 years old girl had gone to spend her school holidays to her
aunt’s house. One day, she went to the market with her sister-in –law & soon found herself
in a parlour somewhere in Kolkata. She woke up and started conversing with a girl little
older than her. The girl cautioned her and asked her to go away from the parlour. She
heard voice of her aunt negotiating some kind of money. The girl helped her to reach the
main station of Kolkata. Lalita recollected she did not even recognise the streets.
The friend left her in the station and disappeared. She was crying and was spotted by the
railway police. She was taken into custody. She just knew Canning and the name of her
village. The CHILDLINE contacted our AHT team. Our team got all details of her home
location and informed the CHILDLINE. She was given back custody to her family.
The family and the leaders of her village will register a formal complaint with the police
against Lalita’s sister in Law. The dynamics are real challenging since her own sister in law
is involved and she is her family.
