Access to quality healthcare remains a significant challenge for many women and adolescent girls living in remote and underserved communities. Recognising this need, the Tribal Community Development and Empowerment Project (TCDEP) organised a Free Health Camp on 5th June 2026 at Gangasagar in collaboration with doctors from the Institute of Reproductive Medicine.
The health camp primarily focused on the well-being of mothers and adolescent girls belonging to the fishermen and tribal communities. The initiative provided an important platform for community members to receive professional medical care and consultation without the burden of travelling long distances to healthcare facilities.
A team of experienced gynaecologists conducted comprehensive health check-ups and consultations, addressing a range of women’s health concerns. Participants were given the opportunity to discuss their health issues in a supportive and confidential environment, enabling early identification of potential health problems. Based on individual assessments, the doctors prescribed appropriate medications and offered guidance on maintaining reproductive and general health.
The camp witnessed encouraging participation from the community, reflecting the growing awareness of the importance of preventive healthcare and timely medical intervention. More than 40 mothers and adolescent girls benefited from the specialised services provided during the programme.
Beyond medical examinations, the initiative also served as an avenue for promoting awareness on women’s health, hygiene, and the importance of seeking professional healthcare support when needed. Such interventions play a vital role in reducing health disparities and ensuring that vulnerable communities have access to essential healthcare services.
Through collaborative efforts like this, TCDEP continues to work towards improving the health and well-being of marginalised communities, fostering healthier families and empowering women and girls to take informed decisions about their health.
