On 28th April 2026, the Prerona Project team conducted a meaningful workshop on behavioural therapy for differently abled children and their parents at the Sangrampur Learning Center, Basirhat. The initiative aimed to support families with practical guidance while promoting inclusion, emotional wellbeing, and positive caregiving practices.
The session focused on practical strategies for managing stress, anger, and challenging behaviours often experienced by children and caregivers alike. Parents were guided on how to respond with patience, consistency, and empathy while creating supportive home environments that encourage learning and emotional security.
Special emphasis was placed on understanding the individual needs, strengths, and best interests of each child. The facilitators highlighted that every child develops differently and requires personalised care, encouragement, and opportunities to grow at their own pace. Discussions also covered various categories of differently abled children, helping parents gain a broader understanding of developmental and behavioural needs.
The workshop further explored ways to strengthen parental support systems and promote greater social inclusion for children with disabilities. Families were encouraged to nurture confidence in their children, advocate for their rights, and help them participate actively in community life.
The interactive nature of the programme created a warm and supportive platform where parents could share concerns, seek guidance, and learn from one another’s experiences. For many families, the session offered reassurance that they are not alone in their journey.
Through such initiatives, the Prerona Project continues to empower children with special needs and their families through care, awareness, and inclusive support.
“Care, understanding, and inclusion – because every child deserves to thrive.”
