On 26th April 2026, two impactful awareness-building initiatives were conducted at Boinchtala, Dhapa under the Adolescent Girls Empowerment Project, supported by Nomi Network India. The programmes were designed to strengthen informed decision-making, personal safety, and collective responsibility among adolescents and their families.
A life skills session was organised for adolescent girls on the topic of responsible sexual behaviour. Through role play, interactive games, and guided discussions, participants explored issues related to safe choices, personal boundaries, self-respect, and accountability in relationships. The participatory methods encouraged open learning and helped the girls build confidence while discussing sensitive yet important subjects in a safe and respectful environment.
Alongside this, a workshop on prevention of human trafficking and cyber safety was conducted for 32 parents and family members. The session focused on the growing risks faced by children and adolescents in both physical and digital spaces. Participants were oriented on early warning signs of trafficking, common online dangers, unsafe contacts, misleading offers, and practical steps families can take to safeguard their children. The importance of communication, supervision, and trust within families was also emphasised.
Together, these initiatives created a holistic approach to community protection by engaging both adolescents and caregivers. While young girls gained awareness and life skills to make responsible choices, parents and family members were empowered to become more alert, informed, and supportive protectors.
The enthusiastic participation of both groups reflected a shared commitment to building safer homes and stronger communities where children and adolescents can grow with dignity, confidence, and security.
“Informed minds, vigilant families, safer communities.”
