Holi was joyfully celebrated across our Brickfield School centres in Kalyani, Basirhat, Akra, and Pujali, as well as at our Model Village Eknar in Nawada, Bihar. Amid brick kilns and village lanes, the festival transformed ordinary spaces into vibrant arenas of colour, laughter, and shared celebration.
Children gathered with excitement as teachers and project staff joined them in applying colours, exchanging greetings, and distributing sweets. For many migrant families living in temporary and demanding environments, such celebrations offer more than festivity – they create moments of belonging and emotional connection.
The celebrations were thoughtfully organised to ensure safety, inclusivity, and joyful participation for all. Teachers and lead educators played a vital role in coordinating the events, ensuring that every child felt included and valued. The simple act of celebrating together strengthened bonds within the learning spaces and reinforced a sense of dignity and community spirit.
At the Model Village Eknar in Nawada, the festival carried the same warmth, echoing the spirit of unity across state boundaries. Despite differences in geography, the celebrations reflected a shared commitment to nurturing childhood joy and cultural identity among children from migrant and marginalised communities.
Holi at the brickfields was not merely about colours – it was about restoring smiles, strengthening relationships, and reaffirming that every child deserves moments of happiness and celebration.
“Where colours meet courage – celebrating joy, unity, and belonging across communities.”
