On 18 February 2026, a deeply impactful health camp was conducted at Sonagachi, Kolkata’s red-light area, reaching out to women and adolescent children who often remain unheard and underserved. The initiative aimed to bridge gaps in access to essential healthcare services while ensuring that every individual was treated with dignity and respect.
The camp provided comprehensive health check-ups, distribution of essential medicines, and counselling support. More than a medical intervention, the programme created a safe and welcoming environment where beneficiaries felt acknowledged, valued, and cared for. Special attention was given to listening to concerns, addressing health-related queries, and offering guidance for continued care and well-being.
The active participation of community members reflected a growing trust and openness toward health awareness initiatives. The gratitude expressed by the women and adolescents highlighted the importance of sustained outreach in marginalised communities where healthcare access is often limited by stigma, economic barriers, and social exclusion.
Beyond treatment, the camp reinforced the message that healthcare is a fundamental right, and that compassion, empathy, and human connection are central to meaningful service. It marked another step in KMWSC’s continued commitment to holistic community well-being and dignified care for vulnerable populations.
“Healthcare with heart – restoring dignity, one life at a time.”
