On 23rd January 2026, Kolkata Mary Ward Social Centre marked a day of deep cultural and national significance through the combined celebration of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s Birthday and Saraswati Puja across multiple project locations in West Bengal and the model village in Nawada. The day brought together children, adolescents, mothers, teachers, and community members in a shared spirit of learning, patriotism, and unity.
At the Sonagachi Education Centre, children and mothers jointly celebrated Netaji’s birthday and Saraswati Puja, reflecting the values of courage, knowledge, and collective strength. The space resonated with enthusiasm as children actively participated in prayers, cultural expressions, and discussions highlighting Netaji’s ideals and the importance of education.
Under the Brickfield School Project (BFS), Saraswati Puja was celebrated at the Model Centre in Basirhat, Kalyani, and Pujali, where children and teachers came together to honour the goddess of learning. These celebrations reinforced respect for education and encouraged children to pursue knowledge with dedication and joy. Alongside this, Netaji Jayanti was observed at Haroa and Kalyani BFS centres, where children reflected on the life, vision, and sacrifices of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose.
The celebrations extended beyond West Bengal to the Model Village in Nawada, where Saraswati Puja was observed with equal devotion and participation. The event fostered a sense of cultural continuity and shared values among children and families, strengthening bonds between education, tradition, and community life.
Across all locations, the celebrations served as a reminder that education and courage go hand in hand in shaping responsible, confident, and socially aware individuals. The day stood as a vibrant expression of unity, learning, and inspiration across geographies.
“Honouring knowledge and courage—celebrating learning, values, and national pride together.”
