KMWSC organised an important Orientation Session on Child Protection issues, the Juvenile Justice (JJ) Act, and case reporting mechanisms on 6th December 2025 at Basirhat Police Station under the Surokhit Shaishav Project. The session aimed to strengthen the understanding and responsiveness of frontline law enforcement personnel who play a crucial role in safeguarding vulnerable children.
A total of eight police officers and thirty-five Civic Volunteers participated in the programme. The session covered key aspects of child protection laws, procedures for handling child-related cases, and the ethical responsibilities of police officials in ensuring safety, dignity, and justice for minors.
The orientation was deeply interactive, with officers and Civic Volunteers actively engaging in discussions, seeking clarifications, and sharing their field experiences. Topics such as recognising signs of abuse, proper documentation, linking with child protection structures, and ensuring timely intervention were thoroughly addressed.
Through this collaborative effort, the session reinforced the importance of collective vigilance and strengthened the partnership between KMWSC and law enforcement authorities in preventing child rights violations in the region.
“Building stronger protectors for a safer childhood.”
